I'm Teaching a Course on C.S. Lewis This Summer
You Can Take It For College Credit or Audit!
I am a major C.S. Lewis nerd and sycophant. I can’t help it. The more I read and reread the man, the more I am amazed and encouraged.
This summer I am looking to make more sycophants. I’m teaching a summer course on the philosophy and theology of C.S. Lewis. It starts on Saturday, July 11th and runs every Saturday through August 15th. The classes are from 1pm to 3:30 pm central time. I will record every lecture and make those available for any students who can’t make 1 or more of the sessions.
The best part of this course is that it’s through a new start up called Profer, which is an accredited private practice for professors! That means you can take my C.S. Lewis course for college credit! Take it as a theology or philosophy class! How cool is that? The cost for taking it for credit is $400, which will save you lots of money compared with most other college courses and you’ll get to learn from me, who you presumably already read and like.
You can also audit the course for $125. I actually love the fact that I can offer both. I am sure that most of my students will be auditors but the potential for both is wonderful.
We are going to cover an absolute butt-ton of C.S. Lewis’s philosophy, much or most of his theology, and a fair bit of his apologetics as well. This course is all about CSL as thinker. He was a philosophy student at Oxford and was private tutored in philosophy and the classics before hand. He then went on to tutor other Oxford students in philosophy before going on staff as a Fellow in English Lit. So, the dude is known as a fantasy author and Christian thinker but he was trained as a philosopher and it bleeds through in those works which aren’t explicitly philosophy works—of which there are in fact a ton!
So, I’m going to help you explore his deep thoughts over the course of 6 weeks. It’s going to be intense and very rewarding, I guarantee. I can make this sort of promise because I took a year to read almost everything C.S. Lewis ever wrote and it changed my entire life. What took me a dedicated year plus many years since to learn, I’m going to cram into your minds in 6 weeks. It’ll be awesome.
